First picture of two-week old premature baby boy killed when pram struck by car

The two-week-old baby boy killed when his pram was struck by a car on Easter Sunday has been pictured for the first time.

Ciaran Leigh Morris was born prematurely with his aunt touchingly saying he “shouldn’t even be here” as she mourns his death.

He died following the incident on Brownhills High Street, West Midlands.

In an emotional tribute released today, Ciaran’s parents said: “Mommy’s and Daddy’s hearts will always ache, we love you more than anything.

“We didn’t get to keep you for long but we are happy we had the chance to meet you, look after you and call you our son.

“Fly high angel.”

They were both visibly shaken as they visited the scene of a crash to see the mass of tributes placed there throughout the day.

They crouched down to read the many messages and tributes, just 24 hours after the tragedy happened.

A steady stream of friends and family had been arriving since the accident at 4pm yesterday (April 4) to place messages, flowers and teddy bears at the place where the incident happened.

Sergeant Mark Crozier, from our serious collision investigation unit, said: “We’ve all been left numb by the sad death

“He was just two weeks old and his life has been tragically taken away.

“To see the loss of someone so young is difficult for us as officers, but we know the pain is even greater for Ciaran’s family.

“We’ll be doing all we can to support them while also trying to establish what happened leading to the collision.

“I would ask people to please respect the family at this sad time and allow them the privacy to grieve.”

Well-wishers have also been dropping off bouquets, cuddly toys, windmills and candles to mark their sadness.

Police said a BMW collided with another car before hitting the pram.

The driver left the scene but a 34-year-old man was arrested in Bloxwich shortly afterwards on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

He was taken into custody, where he remains today.

One tribute reads: “My beautiful nephew Ciaran, from the minute mommy told me about you, I knew you were going to be the most loved and perfect baby in the world.

“Words can’t describe the pain we’re feeling now. Being with mommy and daddy through your small life made my love for you so strong.

“My heart breaks that we can’t cuddle no more. This isn’t goodbye, it is until we meet again, love you always.”
